I'm unable to open chrome to open new windows. I can't access Word. When I go through finder, i can see my documents but am unable to open

Are you running any useless third-party software like anti-virus or "cleaning" apps?

You can enter your Mac's serial number and should be rewarded with the model and year of release.

No not the air
I can’t access the Apple menu. Computer is completely non-responsive and it “thinks” when hovering over the top menu icons and none of the icons on the lower tab bar open.
I purchased it in spring 2019. I’m not sure which OS is running.
im not using any 3rd party antivirus software
