iOS Greek Keyboard Final "s" Problem
In the Greek language the letter Sigma (uppercase Σ) when used within a lowercase word, is written as “σ”, when as a final letter, “ς”.
Up to the present-day iOS 17.1 when one types -- as the final letter in any word -- a lowercase Sigma (Σ) using the Greek language keyboard, it is automatically turned into a final “ς”.
This happens whether or not the word is followed by a full stop -- which means that one cannot use a word in abbreviated form without the WRONG final “ς”.
For exaple, “δισεκατομμύρια” means “billions”, but one always uses the abbreviation “δισ.”. This cannot be done on an iPhone, where you always get “δις.”. Well, the problem is that “δις” means “bis” or “double”, not billions...
Funny thing is that if you long-press “Sigma” you are, supposedly, given the possibility to chose either “σ” or “ς”. But to no avail: you always get a final “ς” at the end of a word.
It must be noted that MacOS Greek language keyboards have never had this problem, as the final “ς” is to be found on the “W” key.
Hopefully, Apple will do something for iOS -- and a solution could probably be a really effective long-press.
