Unable to listen to Audio Message.caf in Messages app

I have iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 17.1. I have been sending and receiving audo messages through Messages app; however last one came in as a "Audio Message.caf" (2MB).

I can't do anything with the "Audio Message.caf" - clicking has no effect, long hold only shows option to Reply or More... delete.

How do I listen to this file?

I can still listen to all of the sent and received audio messages before this file, and I can see pictures and play videos after this file, but the file appears unplayable. And there is no option to export it or save it into Files app.

iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 16

hold the audio and drag it down to where it says imessage send the message back to the person and then once it sends hold down the file of what you sent and you’ll be able to hear it.

I am having same issue now. I updated my software yesterday and now am receiving these unplayable .Caf files i lieu of recorded voice message over text. I’m researching but finding now solutions so far. Anyone have suggestions?

Did you ever figure out what to do for this? I’ve been having the exact same problem and it’s driving me nuts. I can’t find any solutions online at all.
