MacBook Air 2020 (M1) runs out of application memory more often than normal.

I get alerts for my system running out of application memory very often. I usually have around 18-20 tabs open on my browser, around 5-6 will be JavaScript rendering heavy or have a lot of cache, but not an extreme number of tabs or power demand. I used to use Safari but have shifted to Chrome recently (I used to get a lot more alerts while using Safari). My other activity is not heavy, I don't leave too many apps open. It's just my browser, code editor and Spotify. Cleaning browser cache doesn't seem to help.

This should not be a heavy load on my machine. Any suggestions on why this is happening, and what I can do to resolve it? Is there something I should look into?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.1

Troubleshooting Low Application Memory:

How Much Ram is Installed?

RAM (Random Access Memory) is all about multitasking. So, with 8GB or less, I would expect this to occur running javascript and having many open tags. Also, I would stick with Safari, being it is intend for Apple.

  1. Go to: Apple menu
  2. Select: About This Mac
  3. View: "Memory:"
