opening excel sheets in iCloud to edit them at home

Can’t Open File

Drive cannot open this file. Would you like to download it to this device instead?

Above was the error msg appeared, actually I don't want to download, I wanted to open, edit & save the file in iCloud, so it can sync with my laptop.

if this can't work, then no point having iCloud, it should not be a just a storage.
