Problem with old device

I have an iPhone 13 and a 1st gen iPad.

I haven’t used the first gen iPad in ages, but it’s signed to the same AppleID I daily drive.

I want to give this iPad to my dad, but I can’t delete the AppleID from the device. It asks what my password is, and when I enter my password, the iPad says its incorrect (I even reset my password to make sure).

When i try to remove my AppleId from the iPad through my iPhone settings, that doesn’t work either.

iPad OS: 9.3.5(13G36)

How do I remove the AppleID from my first gen iPad?

iPhone 13, iOS 17

Be aware that even if you manage to resolve your immediate problem, your older model iPad will have very little (if any) utility. The iPad1-4 and iPad min1 are obsolete. All 32-bit Apps that are compatible with 32-bit platforms have been retired and removed from the Apple App Store. As such, you will not be able to install any Apps on the iPad.

Built-in Apps such as the Safari browser will not be supported by the majority of current websites - and because of this, the iPad will not be able to access many online services.

Returning to your immediate problem, have you have enabled Advanced Data Protection and/or Account Recovery features on your iPhone or other Apple devices?

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > iCloud > Advanced Data Protection

If you have enabled these features on any of your devices that are running iOS/iPadOS 16.2 or later, you will not be able to sign-in with your Apple credentials on any devices that are not running iOS/iPadOS 15.x or later.

If you disable iCloud Advanced Protection on all your devices, you may be able to sign-in on your older iPad.
