MacBook Pro Shuts off or won't start up while enough battery

Hi guys,

A while ago i bought this mid 2015 Macbook Pro and with 30/40% or even more left it suddenly shuts off.

Also, while its almost full (percentage doesn't really matter) it won't start up and displays i should charge it.

When i connect it to the adapter it starts up, showing for example 98%

What is going on here?

Thank you already so much and it would help a lot if someone can tell me what's the problem here.

Kind regards,

That Mac's battery is malfunctioning. Review If you see Service Recommended on your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro - Apple Support, particularly those under "If your battery isn't charging." Follow those steps.

The context of your question implies you may have purchased that Mac "used". If that assumption is correct, its previous owner may have chosen to replace its battery with a poor quality aftermarket one. In any event it sounds like it needs to be replaced.

The battery seems original and its not a battery that can be easily replaced, its the one which is totally glued to the body of the macbook, unlike the 2012 MacBooks which batteries were easily replaceable.

It doesn't happen always, and the battery takes quiet long to run fully empty, but now and than its malfunctioning.

It is never consistent so i never know if my laptop is going to make it without adapter
