Macbook only starts properly when plugged in

Ordinarily this would just be a battery issue but the battery is new and just replaced. Problem exists when the laptop is completely off. I can start up the macbook fine and normal with the wired charger, but if i try to start it with battery the macbook will turn off immediately after password login and then no possibility of turning back on unless i plug it in again. Battery is charged to 100% and battery works fine after i turn macbook on with the wired charger. Thoughts please as this one is seriously mysterious.
