mac mini 2010 - hdmi on Sony Tv resets with each reboot

Yes, this is a bug with the new Mini, which I have also experienced.

I haven't found a way to fix it.

And I was unsuccessful in setting up an an applescript to automatically change the sound output.

So, for my own setup, I switched to using the Mini DisplayPort for video and Toslink for digital audio.

You can call trying Apple and see if they can offer a solution. I suspect they will not have one. But it's certainly worth reaching out to them. Especially since, if they don't have a fix, they should add the issue to their bug list.

Not exactly a solution, but I would like to point out that in Sound Preferences, if you put a check mark in the box for "Show sound in menu bar" you can then Option-click on the resulting menu bar icon and it drops a selector for input and output ports instead of the normal volume slider. It's just a shortcut that prevents the step of having to open the Preference pane.

I am having the same issue.

I have a Panasonic TH-50PX60U, and a Yamaha RX-V2065. The Mini is plugged into the Yamaha via HDMI and Yamaha to TV via HDMI.
Problem: Just to clarify I do NOT have a video problem. That part seems to be working fine, my problem is with audio. When ever I switch inputs on the receiver or turn the system off (not the Mini, that always stays on) the audio defaults back to the internal speaker in the Mini. I have to go into system settings and change it back to the HDMI audio out. This is super frustrating. I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong area, but it's the only thread that looked like it might have an answer. Thanks!

I have a 2010 mac mini hooked up to a Sony Bravia via HDMI out to HDMI in. The problem I am experiencing is intermittent. When playing something through Netlflix via ANY web browser, the audio will cut in and out during the program while eventually dropping the audio altogether.

Really hope Apple can address/acknowledge this issue as this is the main reason I purchased the mac mini...to act as a media server.

Same issue with a brand new Samsung 32" Series 6. HDMI output works fine to it, but when I turn off the computer or change the TV settings the Sound settings are reset to built-in. Anyone see an answer elsewhere yet?
