Pin files to "Open Recent"

In the list of files in my OPEN RECENT, is there a way to pin (or make permanent) certain files? Windows has this feature of pinning files that you go to often. Does Mac have a way of doing that ?

After migrating to a new macbook, my recents folder now has hundreds of recently viewed files. How can I limit how many or how "recent" they are? It seems Apple added recents, but never gave any user control over it except to hide the folder. I like the concept, but having so many files showing is silly and a waste. Recent File fails to record recent files used I just bought a new iMac 24" computer. I noticed that the Numbers Recent file does not show spreadsheets recently opened. Upon further investigation, I see that the Recents file in Finder is also not working. How do I activate these files?

"Open Recent" Why doesn't this save my recently opened files anymore? Mac Sonoma 14.0 Pages 13.2 I've used a Mac for many years. I've always been able to go into Pages, Keynote or Numbers and click on the third selection down under file called "Open Recent" and then find the most recent files I've been working on. The current "solution" for this question does not work because the Preferences has changed in newer versions. Also I have a feeling my issue is in the root files under library and not just a problem with checking a box. Does anyone have experience with this and know how to fix it? The issue exists for all of my iWork. If I go to "Recent Files" in my finder menu that works fine. I'm taking about inside the actually apps.

You can drag just about anything into the Finder sidebar
