Apple Studio Display Audio Quality

I have dual apple studio displays which I connect to either my MacBook Pro 14 inch (2023 M2 Pro Model) or a recent model HP Elite Dragonfly 13.5 inch generation 3 laptop. Both are connected via dual Apple Thunderbolt 4 cables when running.

The screen resolution / quality is fantastic on both and working in native 5k resolution.

However the audio quality when playing sound from the PC is awful. I have played the same sound file from the Mac onto both monitors and it is fine. However the Windows 12 HP laptop makes harsh tinny / crackly noises on top of the sound, which happens on either monitor.

I have tried multiple restarts of everything to no avail. Firmware was also recently updated on both monitors when connected to the MacBook Pro.

Not really sure how to resolve this one - it strikes me as something Windows/Driver related, however the HP device is a work device which I cannot necessarily update drivers on very easily.

Interestingly this issue has occurred now using my Mac connected to the studio display (playing the same sounds via Microsoft Outlook Web access accessed via Safari), so it is definitely an Apple issue.

Given the monitors are nearly new I am going to take them into the Apple Store for a resolution - quite unacceptable for a pair of monitors at £2,149 a piece.
