Apple Music app freezes after 17.1 update on my iPad

After updating to 17.1 on my iPad Gen 6, the Apple Music app freezes almost immediately upon opening.

Numerous calls to Apple support have been useless: I have deleted and reinstalled the app, hard-restarted the iPad numerous times, completely erased and set up my iPad as new, and still the Music app freezes up.

Naturally I had just paid for entire year’s subscription too.

The app works fine on my iPhone.

Anyone else have this problem after updating?

Here's the solution that worked for me.

Go to Music and DUPLICATE your play list, then delete the original.

Sync to NEW playlist only.

I had the same problem. Went as far as buying 10th gen iPad because I was out of memory anyway, however the problem was still there. Did the above and all is well.

Then updated iPhone SE to 17.1 and had same problem with music. Followed the above and that now works also. Hope all of you have the same results.

the work around is use a browser other than safari, example chrome and go to ----music.apple.com, login and you can stream vs using the app which you have to pray and complain for a fix. please complain---->Product Feedback - Apple , or you can search apple for support and find the link to text and file a complaint. more that you can complain, we can be heard. talked to support and he really said it was his first time hearing this. so laughable

There is a fix.

Several people have posted it and it works, but for whatever reason it keeps being deleted by admin, so I'll try again in cryptic form, so pay attention and be quick, this may disappear.

-Go to settings

-General

-Software update

...now you will see two options - Automatic will be on and the other B*** (which I cannot name) is off.

Switch it on

..........and install the update.

Fixed. Good Luck!

My Issue was resolved! Let me put this in a simple way -

  • Apple Tech support won’t be able to resolve the glitch in the 17.1 update so don’t waste your time going to support. Been with them on the phone for 5 hours - No result!
  • Either wait for the 17.2 update or look for a way to get it ahead of time about which I can’t say much here. Following the second step resolved my problem and it’s working absolutely fine now.
  • When apple releases the official 17.2 update, all your woes will be resolved, so relax for a bit or use the iTunes web player for now, it works just fine.
