Delete app update without installing on iphone

I don’t want to install a new update to an app on my phone and iPad due to the new very poor changes that have been introduced. How can I delete it from the updates list so it doesn’t get installed by accident. Have iPhone 13 Pro and iPad Air 4 all up to date. Apologies if I haven’t tagged this properly. Thanks.
