Can't add yahoo mail to iPad

Didn't use my iPad for about 1-1/2 years. Went back to it and yahoo mail wouldn't update with new emails. I tried rebooting iPad. Then deleted the yahoo email account and rebooted iPad. Now I can't get the account added back. If I go to "Mail" under settings, there is no "Accounts" option as some have suggested. I went to "Passwords & Accounts" under Settings and tried the option "Add Account". I selected Yahoo! from the menu, put in my user name and password. Because I have 2-step activated, it sent a code to my phone, which I entered. Once I entered the code the iPad went back to the "Add Account" menu, listing different options like Yahoo!, AOL, Google, etc. My account was not added. I then tried adding my Yahoo email under "Other". Entered all the information but it says my password (Yahoo) is not valid. (Password does work on my mac and iphone.) Help!!! How can I get my email back on my iPad?

Be aware that some email providers now require the use of App Specific Passwords when accessing mail over IMAP or POP3. If this applies to your email account, you will need to generate a unique password for your iPad email account - that will differ from your normal Account Password. As examples - AOL, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft all use App Specific Passwords when using anything other than their own email client Apps.


If you need to generate an App Specific Password, you’ll need to log-in to your Mail Providers account management webpage - using a web browser - and generate the Password from the appropriate account security page.
