Songs played on iPhone not showing as played on my computer

This is a bug in iOS 17.1 that's happening to a lot of users. Plays on the iPhone aren't being registered anywhere else, play counts and time stamps not updating. Hopefully they'll have a fix for it soon. I've been in contact with Apple Support all week to see what can be done about it. Hopefully we'll hear about an update soon.

This has been fixed for me as of today in updating to iOS 17.2.

Try holding down option+cmd when launching Music to open the library in its safe mode. This may sometimes help resolve odd issues with the library.

I've just installed IOS 17.2 on my iPhone and ...... it has synced to the cloud and the tracks played in the last 20-something hours is showing in Music on my MacBook. Unfortunately, I don't see the tracks played in the rest of the period since it previously synced, but at least there is an improvement.

I can observe the problem since 10/25/2023 - nothing is updated in iTunes since that date.

As always, Apple handles bugs like this, not customer friendly. What a problem it would be to announce that there are problems with synchronization with the current IOS version and that a solution is being worked on. If you phone support: they know nothing, but nothing at all! I can no longer read the standard answers - always the same. Apple should get into the habit of dealing with software errors differently - the way things are going at the moment is just a load of crap.

IOS 17.1.2 was rolled out yesterday and I cannot confirm that the bug has been fixed. The last played date in iTunes is still 10/25/2013. I listen to about 150 songs every day at work - so that can't be right. Apple really annoys me.

I have to correct myself: of course I meant 25.10.2023 as the date of the last played track.

Apple Music is annoying me more and more - if one problem is solved, others are added.

One problem that still hasn't been solved: why do songs stop in the middle of playback without anything happening? The app virtually stands still - only skipping to the next song helps. Also strange: songs are stopped during playback and the next song is played.

In summary, this is all very annoying - because it has been known for a long time and Apple is doing everything but not solving these problems.
