No service issue in iPhone after updating to iOS 15.8

My husband’s iPhone 7 updated to 15.8 and worked fine in the A.M. and midday he received an error message saying cellular data not connected, or something like that. He wasn’t able to make calls or send messages after that. Once home, he was able to send and receive iPhone texts, but still the phone is searching for service. He called iPhone tech support and they said he’d have to go into the store to have them check the phone. I wonder if the SIM card is fried! Thoughts on the update being an issue, I’ve read other older model iPhones like 5 & 7 both, having the same issues but with other updates and not this specific update.

Troubleshooting - iPhone 7

1.

Remove and reinsert the SIM card.

If it doesn't help visit your carrier, maybe the SIM card is damaged, ask for a replaced (new) card. Normally it is free.

Ask also to check if the SIM tray is bent, as even a tiny misalignment can cause the SIM card to not fully connect with the internal contacts in your iPhone.

note:

You have to decide for yourself whether it is still worth having the battery replaced.

Please fix it mobile data issue on ios 15.8.2 for iphone 7 or below. Not all of us can buy the new latest iphone just because of mobile data issue happens after updating ios 15.8.2 on iphone 7. Apple should be aware and please take action about this. Not just focus on the latest ios for the latest iphone. People who still using the old iphone must be a reason or something else.

My issue is similar in the sense that after installing 15.8.3. My phone no longer recognizes my international SIM. I have a Globe SIM that worked fine. Then updated and now it won’t connect. I tried the cellular settings and no luck. Hope it works when I go back and visit. I may also try and add a load to the SIM and see if that affects it.
