Slow updates on a shared grocery list. iOS17

My wife and I created a shared grocery list in "Reminders" and went shopping together. When one of us picked up an item and checked it off, it would not show up on the other person's list as checked off for around 5 to 10 minutes. Is there a way to speed up the collaboration, like in Notes, which updates immediately. As it stands, we can't use it to go shopping, because I have no idea if my wife purchased something or not unless I go find her in the store and ask her. We both are using the latest iOS17 on our phones. We love the way the new interface sorts the grocery items, so we would ideally like to use it.
