I would like to turn off the auto caps but all the other instructions online uses the an older Macbook software which the system settings layout is different from the newest software.

I found the setting that might fix it.In MacOS sonoma if you search for "capitalize sentences atomatically"a popup menu should popup,and when it does simply scroll up and uncheck "capitalize sentences automatically"
