Unfortunately for me Apple nor my carrier were able to solve the problem. The only solution offered was to upgrade to a new phone.
I find it questionable at best that a perfectly functioning phone just decided to stop functioning after a "security" update. Sort of reminds me that the most secure computer is one that is disconnected from the internet, unplugged from the power grid, boxed up and sitting in a closet.
FWIW the problem seems to be related to the carrier signal strength and bad mojo code in the iOS 15.8 update.
Before the update the iPhone 6s Plus worked in areas with 1 bar. After the update the iPhone failed to provide service (NO SERVICE) in those same areas.
I wish you better luck. If you find a solution post it here.
