I’m trying to replicate what a visually impaired person might see as they’re walking around. I’d like to superimpose a transparent image that simulates cloudiness. Can I bring a transparent image into iMovie?

Is this the effect you want?
To get this effect simply add the Pull Focus Title above the clip and drag it to the end.
You will also have to delete the Title and Subtitle text from it.
If you need a stronger effect you could export the clip, reimport it and add another Pull Focus title to it.
Thanks. I can't see that being done in iMovie but it would be quick and simple in FCP etc. Just a circle generator with blur and feathering added. If required, the opacity could be reduced to allow some visibility through the whiteness.

You probably need a more professional editing app for the effect you want.

In FCP you can give the image any amount of blurring from sharp to almost opaque.
As for getting a whitish or extra blurry centre, I know it can be done but I can't remember how!
Hey just wanted to let you know that I got a few Adobe apps and got it to work. Created the transparent layers in Photoshop for iPad then added them into Premiere Rush. I guess I could also try putting it into iMovie. Anyway it works. Thanks again.
