How to adjust brightness in my Apple Watch?

When checking details of exercise progress on my watch face, it lights up in bright colours! I have had to charge my watch twice, once overnight as usual and then again, early evening, otherwise it runs out during my evening exercise class. I assume this is the problem, but don’t know how to correct it.

You can reduce the brightness in Settings/Display & Brightness, or open the Watch App on your iPhone, goo to Display & Brightness to do the same:

Now I see, sorry for my misunderstanding 🙂

Correct, same on my Apple Watch 5, a new layout in watchOS 10.

Each ring has it's own background color, red, green, cyan. Only the first screen and the last two screens still have the black background.

But, you can tell Apple directly about your wishes and thoughts on that by using the Feedback link:

Apple does not follow these user to user discussions.

My watch has only those bright colours, if the ambient light in the room is bright as well, especially directly under my LED spotlight, for example. I return to a darker environment, the screen including the colours will not be that bright anymore.

Did you check, if in a not so bright environment the display has still these bright colours?

If the display does not dimm down automatically, try to force restart your watch by pressing the Digital Crown and the Side button together for about 10sec, until the Apple Logo comes back.

Then test it again.

Any chance that in the Accessibility settings, "increasing contrast" has been enabled?

Can you add a screenshot, just that I can better understand, which "graphs" we are talking about?

To take a screenshot with your Apple Watch, press the Digital Crown and the Side button together once.

You should hear the camera sound and the photo will be copied to your iPhone.

Or do you mean a certain watch face, that has different coloured complications in watchOS 10?
