2020 mac bookair running ios sonoma 14.0

even with the help of an apple senior advisor i cannot connect my canon pixma mx492 copier. it is not being recognized. we even found a sonoma 14.0 driver for the canon. i am older and not great with this stuff although the kind senior advisor had the share screen plus the camera on my iphone looking at copier, routers etc. please help. basic question: can a 2020 macbook bought new from apple store summer of 2022 running ios sonoma 14.0 be compatible with a canon pixma mx492. thank you

The Canon PIXMA MX492 is an older printer, but it appears to be compatible with AirPrint on the Mac. Unless macOS Sonoma has changed the AirPrint system drastically from previous OS versions (I don't believe it has), it should be compatible with the printer.

The setup will require the printer to be connected to the same wi-fi network as your Mac.
