Flatbed Scanner, 64bit - for macOS Catalina

Well, a flatbed scanner is by definition horizontal. I wouldn't even try to operate one vertically; the cover would never stay in place and whatever you were trying to scan would fall out.

I have been using this compact Epson scanner DS-530-II. Works beautifully, it's fast, has a built-in doc feeder and it can copy both sides of a page in one pass. (And I'm using it on Catalina with Vuescan). 600 dpi optical resolution, which is plenty for most uses.

For full disclosure, I also use two Epson flatbed scanners for more detailed work because they support much higher resolutions.

+1. Perfect choice and it is supported by Apple's AirPrint via USB-C cable. Apple's Image Capture will also detect it.

I do not recommend installing anything from the accompanying DVD, and just get the optional, paid, and free trial of VueScan Professional which supports this scanner natively without any vendor drivers. A very good scanner for $89 USD.

In my case, it works just fine on Sonoma 14.0 and later.
