I have already tried the fix where you do Shift command 5 and pick Options and Save to Desktop.
The screenshot just disappears after and does not save on the Desktop, nor anywhere, as far as I can see.

Uninstall "Dropbox" and find out.

That's all I know. If it isn't working for you, then you will need to ask Dropbox.

In Dropbox settings > Backups, disable "Share screenshots…"
The Dropbox product has been known to intercept screenshots. Might it be a factor?
I can't help with Dropbox, other than knowing that's what it does because it's a common complaint on this site.
You will need to contact its developer or consult its documentation.

As I wrote you will need to contact Dropbox, its developer, its instructions, its user-to-user support equivalent of this one, or uninstall it according to its instructions.
Otherwise, live with the problem.
Well, yes, I read Apple's instructions, and I followed them, and when they didn't work, that's when I posted with the problem.
Uninstall Dropbox?? and then reinstall?? with my many GBs of stored items ..... that'll take a few days I think
But I don't see why it's Dropbox at fault if Apple is not saving the document where it is clearly instructed to be saved
I do have Dropbox, but if it is "intercepting" them, it's hiding them too, as they aren't in the Dropbox folder.
I don't see how this is a Dropbox problem.
My iMac should be saving the Screenshots to the Desktop and it is not. So it's an iMac problem, isn't it?
