Advanced Data Protection (ADP) and iCloud Access Not Working

Hi Support Community,

I have enabled ADP on my iCloud account. When I attempt to access *any* iCloud service (Photos / Notes / Drive), I get the message "Sending Access Request to Your Devices" which generates a pop up on my phone. I click "Allow Access" and then nothing happens. The iCloud page just waits and times out. Iv'e tried this from Wifi and as well from 5G. Eventually, I try the route of sending a new access request and at some point of repeatedly clicking "Allow Access", ADP stops working altogether and then says something akin to "There was no response to the request sent to your devices. Your photos can’t be displayed until you grant iCloud.com access from one of your devices."

This has been broken for me for *months*. I thought eventually I'd be able to fix it but I'm not seeing that yet.

ADP is enabled on my iPhone and all other services (including iOS backup) are all working.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm on iOS 17.1.1.

I know some developers internally at Apple but it's ridiculous that I need to go an internal route simply to report a bug.

It is jan 9 2024 12:51pm and still i cant access my data in icloud under appleid and i have installed the latest update for my iphone. I have adp enabled and i tried toggling and still it wont let me access my pics or anything else. I get a pop up saying “photos is locked. This application cannot be launched. please contact customer support.”

it all started when i clicked on adp when i was preparing to send mu broken phone back to the ins co and then again when i cleared data from my old device for my son for one of his Xmas gifts. And here i am stuck still. I contactes support and they suggested i do a reset and log back in but im scared to this as apple support has caused me many major losses of data in The past and im not doing it again.

any fixes known please do share!

My iCloud sync hasn’t worked since like April 2022 and I had to send my phone in to ins co after they sent a replacement and I couldn’t get a backup to complete, it errored and but apple support says it shows it completed but there is only 800gigs in the backup and I had 1.6 gigs between the phone and what data was in excess of my phone capacity. And of course there were like 2 years mostly 2022 and 2023 of photos and videos missing. Can’t get into my acct at all now cuz I left the key on the screen and started to write down and then I had to break up a fight between my son and his friend and by the time I remembered what I was doing the dang phone was dead cuz the kids accidentally unplugged the cord from power strip.

in process of trying to get my acct straight I had to reset password to Apple ID cuz I couldn’t remember what I had just changed screen lock to and because I had changed my sons acct to his actual bday the system made it a minor acct and suddenly I had no trusted device no trusted contact. To make matters worse I never could get my phone back up on iTunes on my son’s laptop to complete cuz I needed 1.6 gigs on one disk and I didn’t have that.

Apple messed me up by not offering more then 2tb of cloud storage for the last several years- could not back up my phone since 3 months after I got it so last back up to iCloud was June or July 2022. I had 25k pics/videos, my son’s whole childhood- gone.

so I made a new Apple ID and it let me use it for a few days then kept asking me to login with my password and even tho I saved it to keychain it wouldn’t work. So idk what to do or try
