MacBook Air M2 - Non responsive haptic trackpad

I received a brand new MacBook Air M2 a few days ago. Since day 1 the haptic feedback on the trackpad has not worked. The following steps enabled haptic feedback to work but then stopped working once the MacBook went to sleep.

  1. Changed the trackpad settings in the system settings section, trackpad didn't work
  2. I then deleted the following files:

  • com.apple.preference.track.plist
  • com.apple.AppleMultitouchTrackpad.plist

Restarted my MacBook and went into the options menu, ran disk repair and restarted my MacBook. The trackpad then started working. However once it went to sleep and I started the laptop the haptic feedback stopped working.
