Garageband 2.3.14

I bought a new Ipad Pro. Unlike the older version, the only input available is a type C. I want to hook up my external microphone and my guitar to play and sing on separate tracks. the internal mic works fine, but I cannot get the external mic to work, expecially while tring to monitor with headphones. the headphones work, but not in tandem with the external mic.

I purchased a generic adapter which accepts C type one one end and headphone jack on the other. I have connected an Irig to my external sources. cannot get it to work.

It worked on the older version of Ipad when plugged into the headphone jack, which is no longer available on the new Ipad Pro
