How to remove an app entirely from my Mac?

PS to previous post, I may be mistaken, is this the GlobalProtect app?

Apparently I can't attach a photo: the icon is similar to GlobalProtect except the continents are green instead of blue and it doesn't have the black shield and checkmark.

All it seems to do is open a webpage I had had open to Best Buy looking at ipads.

In the case of a URL Dock icon, removing the icon from the Dock actually removes it from your Mac. The action of removing the Dock icon causes the corresponding entry in a file within ~/Library/Preferences to be deleted. It is not an app.

Dragging that icon from the Dock alters that file to reflect its contents. The file itself is so small as to be negligible.

I have had a globe icon appear in my dock (next to Trash) which I first thought was GlobalProtect but in fact it's a URL dock icon, allowing you to go to a particular website without the browser being open, and I want to get rid of it. However the Macbook User Guide says that if you simply remove an icon from the dock "the actual item will still be in your Mac" so I need to find out how to remove it entirely.
