My new iphone just stuck when I updated the new IOS 17

I bought my new Iphone and I wanted to set it up, but they asked me to update it before setting up anything, so I started updating it to iOS 17. More than three hours have passed and it is on “install now.” What should I do in this case? I have just bought the phone and it has not been installed yet. I can open it because of this update.

iPhone 11, iOS 16

plug the phone to a power source so it stays connected to wifi so it can finish the update.

Hello mariamm3301,

A iPhone that's stuck on updating can be frustrating but no worries i'm here to help!

For this specific issue there's a line of steps that can help:

What to do:

  • Firstly you'll need to set up your iPhone without transferring anything else over. (You can skip the password, iCloud, etc)
  • Next go to setting and update your device to the latest software (In this case iOS 17.1.1)
  • Once the iPhone has updated you'll want to reset the device again. (Go to Settings  > General > Reset, then tap Erase all Contents and Settings.)
  • Once the iPhone is at the greeting screen proceed as usual and setup your new device by using your old phone to transfer your data

Hope this helps!
