This started before latest update to Sonoma 14.1.1 so not related to update. SMA messaging works on my iPhone but not on my MacBook Air. Checked all the usual stuff, same network same ID etc etc. There is no Text Forwarding in settings any more so some old suggestions not up to date. Means 2 FA a pain having to check the text on my phone to enter it on my MacBook

There are no text forwarding settings on a Macbook Air. Searching and changing all kinds of options on the laptop does not solve this issue. The solution is not on the MacBook, it on your iPhone. Crazy!
the options to check are ON YOUR iPhone > settings > Messages > Text Message forwarding > your other Apple devices show up there and you select all of them to get SMS to work over all your devices.
This option is not in the Settings menu on your Laptop.
if our IOS & OSX operating systems are supposed to be coming together do this first. It frustrating when the solution to an issue on a device is found not on that device but on another. What if you don’t have an iPhone?
