Do devices brought from Australia work in South Africa or are there any restrictions please?

It would be best if your child sent you an Apple gift card to cover the cost of the iPhone. Then you could purchase it where you live. Purchasing an Apple device outside of where you live may void the warranty. Warranties normally cover repairs only in the country/region of purchase. Also, it may be difficult to pair it to your iPhone which is presumably set up for South Africa.
Others in this forum are more knowable than I. Hopefully they will chime in with any other concerns.
