phone keypad on iPhone 14 Pro Max not working correctly

When on a call i need to use the number keypad to type in numbers, i.e. birthday, account number, etc. Often I get a request to validate what i entered. The response is generally the wrong number or it has duplicate numbers like I entered them twice. Bottom line unless i have a voice option the numbers i type are not valid.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
