Hi,

Is this the Canon MX492 model?

If so, this printer is listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support, and would be compatible with an iPhone without an additional app, provided that the printer and the iPhone are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router).

You may want to try a full power-cycle sequence (including the router, in this order, with these waiting times)?

Power off the Wi-Fi router, the Canon printer, the iPhone, and all other devices/computers. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the Canon printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the iPhone. Finally, power on all other devices/computers.

Is your iPhone the 6s model in your profile? Which exact iOS version?

Have you checked whether the printer has been updated to the latest possible firmware version?

Hi ishyboy,

Yes, there have been a number of posts about iPhone printing difficulties.

Did you try the power-cycle sequence above, exactly as described?

There have been reports about other Canon printers indicating that a firmware update may help in some cases. A Printer Firmware Updater (Mac) for MX490 series Ver.1.0 from 10.09.22 can be found under macOS Ventura v13 downloads at https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-mx492 (whether this would make a difference here is another matter, but you could perhaps at least check that you have the latest firmware).

Also, are you using a VPN app on the iPhone? If so, since this may affect AirPrint printing, any change without VPN?

Ive searchd the forums, I believe the problem is with the last update. Others experiencing the same issue. Can print from macbook pro, just not from Iphone. They need to create a patch. Loss of availability of finding airprint printers. Latest update 14 Sonoma allows airprint. Iphone 17.1.1 will not allow airprint. I hope they address this quickly. Ive reset everything several times. It's not the printer. My wife cannot print from her phone either. Please address as soon as possible. thank you

I’m having the exact same issue. As soon as I upgraded to 17.3.1 I was unable to print from my iPhone to our Canon printer. The print function works fine from my MacBook. Frustrating, for sure.

It used to be that I could almost always print from my phone and occasionally the laptop needed to be tweaked (delete printer in settings and reinstall it).
