trojan virus in MacBook

I got a notification from the MacBook setting that says there's a trojan virus on my Mac. How can I get the virus out? Are there any programs to clean my computer from viruses and protect my information?

There are no viruses that affect macOS so just forget that idea.

Do not download or install anything. Whatever you are encountering is a scam. The term "Trojan virus" is devoid of meaning and is intended to frighten you into taking inappropriate and probably harmful actions. That's the real threat.

It's not from the MacBook's System Settings application.

It's from scammers who have sent a Web site notification with a copy of the application's icon, the better to make potential victims trust the message, and fall for the scam.

Read John Galt's linked User Tip, and all will become clear. Whatever the criminals who sent this want you to do, don't do it. Don't panic, don't fall for it, and don't be a "phish."
