New iPhone 15 pro max will not connect to wi-fi

Received my new iPhone 15 Pro Max a couple of days ago and started the transfer from my old iPhone 12 Pro but the new phone will not connect to wi-fi so the transfer has stalled. Wi-fi still works on my old iPhone and iPad and MacBook Pro.

Note that both phones updated to iOS 17.1 prior to transfer. Tried everything else on this subject for connectivity issues on Apple Support website but no change. Phone is useless until it can connect to wi-fi.

I have exactly the same problem. Have done a complete reset but at the moment that has not resolved anything. Think I‘m just going to have to send the brick back!

  •  You need to sign in to your router.
  • The Wi-Fi network name, or SSID (service set identifier), is the name your network that has a password.

or If you have iOS 16 / iPadOS 16:

Go to -> Settings -> tap Wi-Fi -> tap on the hidden Password -> enter Passcode -> you will then see the Wi-Fi Password.

If they are On, turn Off Hotspot & VPN.

Seem to have resolved the wi-fi issue!! It took a long time on the phone with Apple Support (who were actually pretty good despite having to go through many of the steps again that I had already tried).

Basically it came down to having to plug my new iPhone into my MacBook Pro via USB-C and doing a full reset that then automatically updated the iPhone to iOS 17.1.1. I then had to start the 'transfer' process again from my old iPhone 12 Pro and somehow it seems to now connect to my home wifi OK.

I did get caught in a bit of a 'loop' where the reset was asking me to turn off 'Find Me' which I couldn't do as it required my Apple ID and password and of course I wasn't connected to wi-fi so it wouldn't work!! I'm really sorry but I can't recall how that was finally resolved as I'd been on the phone a couple of hours by then and all a little muddled...suffice it to say that little issue did resolve itself and all looking good so far.

Apologies for forgetting the fix for turning off 'Find Me' but Apple Support may help you if you are experiencing a similar problem during the reset and new transfer process.

Hope that is at least useful to some and shows the issue can be resolved...I was also close to just returning the new iPhone if it hadn't worked too!

I've been battling with cellular connection with tmobile for 4 years with no improvement at all in spite of my calling about it.

Now, I have this brand new 15pro and can't do anything with WiFi or cellular without standing on my head and holding a table in my hands. Even then, it's useless and a waste of money, time and frustration. At the same time, my TV isn't even pausing and my old phone plus other devices connect fine.

I've tried all of the suggested "fixes". Apple needs to stop trying to control our volume and private choices and make their devices function properly.

Sorry. I've just had a gut full of this.
