Wifi drops during data transfer to new iPhone

I'm trying to set up a new iPhone (12pro) via quick start, transferring data directly from my old phone (iphone X). My old phone has OS 16 installed, both phones are connected to a charger. Wifi is stable. I've restarted both phones multiple times, but every time my old phone drops out of the wifi during the 'Transferring data to iphone' phase and remaining time creeps up to 4 hours...

after a while I get the message that transfer was cancelled.

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Keep both phones connected to their respective Power Adapters throughout the transfer process - as this will help to keep the WiFi and Bluetooth connections active will the transfer is taking place.

You might also consider temporarily disabling the screen Auto-Lock function on both devices while performing the transfer:

Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock - temporarily set to Never

Your alternative is to restore an iCloud or iTunes backup of the source iPhone to the new iPhone:
