Iphone connects to car via aux for 30 seconds then stops

if I plug my iphond se2020 into the car via the aux/headphone jack in my car it will play music through the car audio for about 30 seconds or so then it stops and the phone says accessory not supported. I turned off screen protection which had been set to 30 seconds, but it’s not the issue.

what would cause the accessory not supported to be delayed? If I unplug the aux cord from the phone then plug it back in I get my music back for another 30 seconds or so until it stops .

iPhone 6, iOS 12

Does your dad have the exact same iPhone and same version of iOS?

3rd party cables and adapters can work with older phones or older versions of iOS, then fail later. Getting the Apple adapter will likely solve the problem.
