Opening Pages Docs

Somehow the default changed to "Text" and I get messages that the pages docs cannot be opened. I need to change the default back to "Pages", but don't know how. Help!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.7

Hi Patricia,

In Finder, click once on the document and Menu > File >Get Info (command I). This is what I see for a Pages document (Fred.pages) that I deliberately changed to Fred.txt. It can be opened in TextEdit, but not in Pages.

Perhaps the name of your document was accidentally changed to Something.txt

Change the extension from .txt to .pages and press return. MacOS will show a warning:

Click on Use .pages

Pages should then open that document.

Tested in MacOS Ventura with Pages 13.1

Regards,

Ian.
