The problem with Wi-Fi showing "connected" but not showing web pages is likely to be Domain Name Server (DNS) -- telephone number lookup for the Internet.
The litmus test:
open a Browser and enter:
1.1.1.1 and press return.
if you get the CloudFlare** splash page, your internet connection is working fine, your DNS is not fine.
**CloudFlare is NOT part of the solution, they just have the easiest to remember all-numeric IP address.

Check the date & time.
I came back to my MacBook Pro this evening and the date was 30th October 2021, and the time something random. Location was also set to Birmingham, UK when I actually live in Lisbon, Portugal
I turned off the "Set time and date automatically", set the date/time to the correct and then everything worked.
