Apple Music family subscription-individual libraries

I have just subscribed to a Apple Music family subscription, having upgraded from my annual subscription. My husband has now got access to it, but he has all of my library, and if he adds something, I see that as well. I thought we were supposed to be able to manage our own libraries? I have tried looking into why this is happening, but nothing seems clear! He has signed in to Media and Purchases with my log in details, as without this he couldn’t connect to Apple Music, but how does he get to start his own library without seeing all my music? He has an iPhone 7 on iOS 15.8; I am on an iPhone 11 on iOS 16.6. Thanks

That is the issue precisely. Log in details should not be shared. You are sharing your entire account and as such you are sharing the same Music Library

Each person should be logged in to their own Apple ID.

You needed to have invited his Apple ID to Family Sharing so he could make use of the shared subscription without actually seeing your own music Library.

He needs to log out of your account, and log in with his.

Then you need to make sure Family Sharing is correctly set up.

Thank you for this. This was how we had it earlier, but whenever he tried to download something, he got a message saying he couldn’t connect. Everything I looked at on Apple’s site seemed to suggest that we needed to be signed in to the same account for purchases (which really didn’t make sense to me!).

Anyway, he has now signed back in to his account for purchases, and it now seems to be working ok! Thanks for your reply 😊
