High CPU% Kernal Task when 2nd monitor is plugged in via USB-C Port

When I am using a 2nd monitor with my mac book pro the last week or so the CPU get's overloaded once I use the montior for a few hours, CPU heats up and then whole system is slowed down. Goes away as soon as I unplug the monitor for the USB C port. Tried both sides and all the ports. Same result.

Any suggestions? I've been using the monitor for months without issue.
