iphone activation

cant activate my iphone cos its giving me error message to update first. i did reset it to factory mode, now i cant get it to start working. pls help

First.....you were looking at an article about updating to iOS 17, but if you still have the iPhone 8 that is mentioned in your profile, that model of iPhone cannot install iOS 17.

According to the information in your post, you reset the iPhone to factory defaults, so the phone would have restarted and displayed the "hello" screen.
