IOS Update 17.1.1 and CarPlay

Looks like Apple has an early Thanksgiving Turkey on their hands. Same problem. I have a 2020 Infiniti. CarPlay won't connect at all. No maps, no anything - which is really annoying and dangerous when trying to navigate to a new place when you're used to using Google Maps.

So Apple, when will y'all have a fix for this?

And why is my iPhone schizophrenic with three different aliases?

Same here. Updating did not help.

I ended up using a different lightening connector and that did the trick.

Wired Apple CarPlay started working right away.

It wasn’t even Apple branded and it was MFi certified.

I still find it weird how the cables that previously worked no longer work.

After 17.1.1 update I also lost the Apple CarPlay, no longer available when I plugged the iPhone into usb, I have a 2019 Subaru Outback, tried deleting the iPhone from car stereo and reinstalling, checked iPhone settings & nothing was working.

Iphone Settings > general Settings > CarPlay > Select Car > Forget this Car.

Then reconnect like a new set up, I now have Apple CarPlay back, everything thing is working like it was before the IOS update 😃

Update here...while I had been able to upgrade my iOS to fix my CarPlay, after 3-4 weeks it broke with another update. I did multiple attempts to reconnect CarPlay with no luck.

However, due to a snowstorm I used my wife's car. I connected my iPhone and it worked perfectly.

Got me thinking that the issue is my car (vs my iPhone). I did a Factory System Reset on my Honda Accord and I was able to get CarPlay working again.

My guess is these cars encounter issues between the car system (computer) and our phones. It didn't matter whether using Bluetooth or USB, my iPhone wouldn't connect.

Doing the Factory System Reset on my car only took a few minutes and the only inconvenience was setting up my car console menu buttons. Not a big deal for me to get my CarPlay working again.

Hope this helps others.

Not sure what may be going on for some of you but I can say for myself and the iPhones in my household there have been no issues with iOS 17 (any version) and CarPlay both wireless and wired. This doesn’t mean there isn’t an issue for people but it does indicate it’s not a universal issue. Unfortunately patience will have to prevail. Report the issue via the feedback form (just posting and responding to threads on this forum is not going to help. It needs to actually be reported). An update will not occur overnight. In the meantime it might be helpful to check forums for your specific vehicle to see if others have reported the same issue and found any workaround. There may not be one but it doesn’t hurt to explore all possibilities.

There's nothing in the 17.2 Release Notes, but I can tell you CarPlay in iOS 17.2 is working perfectly.

Honda support had me do a console factory reset (Honda car console) with 17.1.2 and this worked temporarily and then CarPlay broke again.

So far every iOS update has nuked my CarPlay and I had to rename my phone, clear all CarPlay settings, etc...

I've started my car (Honda) several times now and CarPlay is still working fine (with iOS 17.2).

You have commented on several posts regarding CarPlay issues with the same response, maybe you would think at somepoint you're wrong given the NUMEROUS posts regarding connectivity issues? Apple HAS introduced bugs regarding CarPlay and there are hundreds of people reporting the same issue. It is frustrating as something that has worked so well for a long period time has come to a sudden halt is absolutely infuriating.

That was an awful lot of text that said very little. And, the fact that you're blaming this rampantly reported issue as possibly an underlying issue of another variety - and without any basis - is unhelpful.

Fact of the matter is, there is a consistent Carplay <> iOs 17.1.1 issue that's been reported by many individuals affecting a wide array of iPhones, users/locations, and car makes/models. This issue wasn't caused by user error, nor should it require any preventative steps from any user. This an Apple issue that, frankly, shouldn't have occurred with proper testing, and it needs to be resolved by Apple.
