Searching Mail incredibly slow on macOS Monterey

I have noticed searching Applemail has become ever more useless. I searched a name I was looking at and it still did not did not find it. It has become unusable. I see this has beena previous issue but for me this is the first time I have noticed it. I am using Mac 12.7.1 and Mail 16.0.

It may be a cataloguing issue as once I am up and running for an hour or so it can speed up. It has been going on for a few months.

Mail search very slow Looking at the forums this happened in Big Sur a couple of years ago, it seems to have returned with MacOS 13... Mac Mail switches from zippy to beachball pretty much at random. Rebuilding mailboxes and moving thousands of emails to local storage doesn't seem to do anything. A constant though is the agonising slow search function. It used to be pretty much instantaneous but now it can take up to one minute to get any result. OS13 has also removed the choice of 'sender contains'. So a big step backwards. Any fixes? - Thanks

MAIL SEARCH NOT WORKING I upgraded to Mac Ventura, now the search function in mail is not working properly. I have tested it numerous times and it can not find all emails from a particular client. anyone else having this issue? I enter the search mode and it may bring up one email and I can see multiple ones in my inbox. Sometimes it says 0 found and I know there are multiple emails there.

Apple Mail is stuck "Indexing…" Search in E-Mail is an essential function for users. I have a big search problem on all Apple systems with MacOS Sonoma. The systems destroy the Mail index again and again. I have reinstall Sonoma on three different systems. It works after the first setup of the Mail Account until the next reboot. Normally the following steps should work (It works on all older systems [BigSur is my oldest in town] Close the MailApp Remove all Index files in /User/username/Library/Mail/V10/MailData (Envelope Index,Envelope Index-shm,Envelope Index-wal) Start the MailApp Start the Activity Monitor (Mail -> Window -> Activity) Enter something to search In the case of Sonoma the indexing starts and I can see new index files staff 9887744 Jan 3 17:37 Envelope Index staff 32768 Jan 3 17:38 Envelope Index-shm staff 1487352 Jan 4 08:03 Envelope Index-wal But the Search does not work and the index process runs forever. Dear Apple Mail developers, please fix this bug. My only solution at the moment is the usage of an alternative E-Mail client (Thunderbird). See the details in the screen shot. But the main problem is that it happens again and again and even if a rebuild is successful, it needs to much time for users with tons of mail.
