iPad a better substitute for iPhone on my MC?

I own a 2022 Honda Goldwing MC. It currently has programming built in to its entertainment electronics system that hooks up my Iphone with a program called Apple Carplay and allows me to access a multitude of the program on my phone through the screen on my motorcycle.

I own an older Apple iPhone (a 7A model with the bigger screen) I bought it because, I believe, it was the last model they built with a headphone/mic plug. This would be the unit I want to swap out. It has in the past hooked up to my bike on its USB aux. plug and did play some music stored in my phone through the bikes system. I would still want a headphone/mic jack as I do use my phone this way at home only...it has no use on my bike as I use a wireless system connecting everything to my helmet after the device is hardwired to the bike.

Can an Apple iPad built before 2018/2019 be fully compatible to hook up to my bike? I used that date because I saw a few posts about connectivity concerns on the newer iPhones with newer operating system updates. This would be hard wired directly to the bike via the built in USB cable. If this is possible my preference would be to try and find a larger screen, most powerful cpu and decent sized storage capacity device to use mostly when I am traveling.

If this does hook up wouldn't it be real time and I would also have direct internet access via satellite to any current info, searches and mapping programs etc... while I was on the road only subject to data costs through my internet provider or would this be stand alone through a satellite?
