QuickTime crashing after three hours of audio recording

I use QuickTime everyday to record the audio of my lessons. Since two or three weeks I'm having this issue where QuickTime crashes after two or three hours of recording, without letting me save the current recording. I would have lost the entire recording everytime if I weren't also recording the lesson with Zoom. During the recording a window pops up saying "Unable to complete the task" (the screenshot I attached is in Italian). Can someone help me understand what's going on?

what location are you using as your "save to" location? I have, in the past, encountered issues with longer recordings stopping / not saving unexpectedly whenever I have selected anything other than "desktop" as my "save to" location. this has been especially true when "save to" is set to an external drive. so I now use "desktop" as my "save to" every time and afterwards I move them to my desired location manually. I haven't had an issue since.
