Hi,
So basically I have a '19 MBP that has a dead battery but worked plugged in. But after I performed an SMC reset and the laptop has refused to power on whilst its plugged in. I know the battery costs £199 but I'm currently not in the space to purchase one.
If anyone knows how I can get it started again whilst its plugged in please let me know.

These 2016-2020 Apple Intel laptops are very quirky. I've had this occur multiple times. Assuming the battery is not completely bad, try unplugging the charger & reconnecting it to the laptop as this will sometimes trigger the laptop to power on. Maybe try it several times, but the second time leave the charger disconnected for 5 minutes before reconnecting to the laptop. Make sure to connect the charger directly to the laptop since adapters/docks/hubs don't always allow the full power of the charger to reach the laptop.
Also, disconnect all other external devices from the laptop. Try connecting the charger to another USB-C port, especially on the other side of the laptop.
Do you hear the laptop "ding" when connecting the charger?
Leave the charger connected for half an hour to see if it will power on automatically, if not, try pressing the power button again.

Okay so I when I plug it in there's no ding at the moment but I've changed the port I'm using to charge and I'll update you as the journey goes on. But wow do I regret doing an smc reset. 😂
