Trying to update Safari on my MacBook Air but the instructions on apple.com don't make it clear.

To upgrade Safari to Safari 16 or a later version you would need to upgrade your Mac to macOS 11 or a later version.
If you can’t or don’t want to upgrade, you may want to use a 3rd party internet browser that supports running their current version on your Mac. One option is Chrome: https://www.google.com/chrome/
The model year of a MacBook Air is available at Apple menu > About This Mac.

Correct -- Safari 16 isn't an option. There may be options other than Chrome but that is one that I know does work with Catalina.
Thanks for taking the time to answer.
I have a mid 2012 MacBook Air with Catalina 10.15.7 so am apparently unable to install Safari 16, thus will no longer be able to use Safari to access some websites. Will need to use Chrome instead :(
