books won't sync to my iPad and iPhone

I've logged into the cloud with the same user name and password. I've got books listed to sync on all devices. On my computer I have over 60 books and at least 60 audiobooks. On my iPhone I have 45 books and no audiobooks. On my iPad I have 8 books and no audiobooks. How do a get all the devices to show to same books and audiobooks?

I did not have some of the switches turned on on my iPhone.They were all correct on my iPad. It seemed to work with my iPhone but not my iPad. I saw the syncing message on my iPhone at the bottom of the Books Library page. Still no audiobook files. The Apple Book Users Guide says that audiobooks can be transferred. Maybe someone else has some suggestions.

I'm fairly certain that audiobooks don't sync via iCloud.


To sync all the other books turn off syncing of Books at iCloud Drive and turn back on.


On Mac: System Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Drive > Apps syncing to iCloud Drive > Books.


iOS/OS: Settings > Books > iCloud Drive.

And also Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Drive > Apps syncing to iCloud Drive > Books.

To finish off our conversation and thank you for your help.

I was able to sync both my iPhone and iPad by physically connecting with my iMac. I synced the audiobooks and books. They all came over. The iPhone was recognized in Finder but not the iPad. I had to go to Finder>Settings>Sidebar and select Recent. Then my iPad was recognized.

I am at a loss. My daughter purchased a book on her old phone. It transferred to her new phone fine but it will absolutely not synch to her iPad. Everything that needs to be on according to the support threads are on. We’ve logged in and out of books a few times. However while trying to troubleshoot this a little more today when I look on her phone it visually appears in her library but when I click on her profile and look at purchases it is not listed as being purchased. For reference this book was purchased in the summer of 22.
