A few months ago I uploaded some of my own custom artwork for a few albums. Now I'm wanting to have them go back to the Apple Music defaults. Is there any way I can 'reset' them to retrieve the album art they're supposed to have, besides just downloading the pictures from Google and replacing them?

You can try :
File > Library > Get Album Artwork
You may have to delete the custom artwork first. If you do delete the custom artwork, see if the default artwork was saved in the "next" frame of the "Artwork" tab of the "Get info" box.
